Common mistakes #3 -Not changing the fuel and air filters.

Air filter from a car that was serviced 1 year before... no way!

Filters are small, inexpensive parts to replace during your regular scheduled services, but when they get clogged up, they can create a world of trouble! Dirty air or fuel filters can cause various sensors on a car to fail, resulting in repair bills that can become quite large.

A failed sensor is a common reason for a "check engine" type of light to illuminate and can also result in the engine misfiring. Ignoring this problem could cause a larger problem  -  the catalytic converter failing. This would then result in the car failing emissions inspection in your MOT. The repair bill for a new 'Cat.' for many cars can be a significant sum of money.  In short, ensure you use a reliable garage like HVS who will replace filters as part of your service. You would be surprised how many don't !
